Sun Protection

  • What do these terms mean: Broad Spectrum SPF Water resistant
    • Broad Spectrum: The ability of a sunblock to protect against both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays can cause premature aging and skin damage, while UVB rays can cause sunburn and skin cancer. A broad-spectrum sunscreen provides protection against both types of rays.

SPF: SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. It is a measure of how well a sunblock can protect your skin from UVB rays. For example, an SPF of 30 means that it will take 30 times longer for your skin to burn than it would without protection.

Water-resistant sunscreens are formulated to resist the effects of sweat and water. They repel water and are less likely to get washed away.

  • Are there waterproof sunscreens?
    • No, there is no such thing as waterproof sunscreen as all sunscreens eventually wash off when exposed to water.

  • How much sunblock should I apply?
    • Using clean hands, take a coin-sized dollop of the product and apply it over the face and neck. Massage with fingers until it blends uniformly onto the skin.

  • How often should I reapply sunblock?
    • It is recommended to re-apply sunscreen every two hours or as needed. Also, best paired with our SPF top-up loose powder for on the go protection.

  • How do I choose the right tint?
    • We have a tint guide on our website that can help you find the right shade for your skin tone.

You can also contact us via chat or email and we will be happy to help you find the perfect shade for you.

  • Is SPF 30 sufficient for daily protection against UV rays?
    • SPF 30 is considered to be a sufficient and good level of sun protection for daily use. It means that the sunscreen filters out approximately 97% of UVB rays as opposed to SPF 50 which filters out 98%. However, whatever SPF you choose is incomplete without good UVA protection measured by the PA rating. A product with SPF 15 and PA++++ is a better option for daily use than a product with SPF 50 but no UVA protection.

Skincare Essentials

  • Do I need a serum?
    • Considering today's lifestyles and constant exposure to external stressors such as sun and pollution, daily use of a serum to soothe and repair the skin will be very beneficial.

  • Can I use serums with other skincare products?
    • Yes, you can use serums alongside other skincare products. Our serums are formulated as lightweight gels that are quickly absorbed into the skin. After applying a serum, you can follow it with a moisturizer and sunscreen for optimal skincare benefits.

  • Can serums be used instead of a moisturizer?
    • Serums are designed to deliver highly concentrated active ingredients deep into the skin to target specific concerns. On the other hand, moisturizers are formulated to prevent moisture loss and to keep the skin hydrated. So, based on your skin type & skin concerns, you can use a serum on its own or along with a moisturiser.

Star Ingredients

  • What is patchouli?
    • Patchouli is an aromatic plant known for its fragrance and its effective anti-ageing properties. We are the first skincare product in India to use Patchouli extracts that contain CB2 activators known for their potent anti-aging properties.

  • What are the benefits of using Patchouli?
    • Sandiva's serums use sustainably sourced premium patchouli that activates the CB2 receptors in the skin's endocannabinoid system. These activators boost your skin’s collagen density to decrease fine lines and the appearance of wrinkles, as well as immediately soothe irritation and improve its barrier function.

  • Is Sandiva's Sandalwood pure?
    • We use 100% pure sandalwood dust, ethically sourced from the deadwood in the forests of South India.

  • What are the benefits of using Sandalwood?
    • Sandalwood is an ancient ingredient with numerous benefits. It is antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, making it excellent for treating skin conditions. With it's soothing and calming effect on the skin, makes it ideal for sensitive skin type. Additionally, sandalwood has anti-aging properties, helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It is a natural sun protectant and can also brighten the complexion, leaving the skin looking radiant and healthy.

  • What are the benefits of Niacinamide?
    • Niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3 that helps grow the skin's ceramide barrier which in turn prevents it from losing moisture and keeps it looking supple and plumped.

  • What are the benefits of Sweet Almond Oil?
    • Sweet Almond Oil is powerhouse of vitamins A, D, E, K and omega fatty acids. These componets are essential nourishment for the skin that help it heal, regenerate new cells & reatin moisture.

  • Does Sandalwood dry the skin?
    • This myth might have originated because of the traditional use of Sandalwood in humid climates to combat oily skin. However, this is not the same as drying out the skin. Infact a common cause of excess sebum production is an imbalance caused by very dry skin. On the contrary, Sandalwood contains antioxidants that help maintain the buoyancy and structure of the skin cells. Sandalwood reduces dryness and replenishes the moisture in the skin, thus increasing elasticity.

  • Does Sandalwood leave a strong fragrance?
    • This misconception is caused by chemical fragrances marketed as Sandalwood in mass products. We use 100% pure sandalwood dust in all our products. Pure sandalwood has a very mild odour. While our sun protection products are fragrance-free, our serums, soaps and primer have a mild fragrance which blends other natural essential oils with sandalwood.
